The Caves of La Balme are also a great visit during rainy days !

Exceptional situation : in case of heavy rain, the Underground Lake Tunnel can face a high water level (2 or 3 times a year). Visitors get the chance to watch an exceptional show of Mother Nature ! But no worries, even if the Underground Lake Tunnel is closed to the public, the rest of the tour is safe to access.

Free parking for all vehicles (bus included).
A "drop-off area" is located near "Rue des Grottes" at 50 meters from the Caves of La Balme entrance desk.

We disclaim responsibility in case of loss or theft. We advise you not to leave personal belongings inside your vehicle.

May I take pictures with a tripod or a monopod during the visit ?

NO. The use of tripods or monopods is forbidden in the Caves as well as the use of flash photography.

Is it possible to come with a pet ?

NO. Pets are not allowed in the Caves.

Does special equipment necessary to make the tour ?

NO. However, we recommend to wear a light sweater plus sturdy non-slip shoes.

Is it possible to visit the place in a wheelchair ?

NO. Unfortunately, the Caves of La Balme are not wheelchairs accessible.
Access remains possible until the entrance office through an asphalt pathway from the car park.

You brought your picnic basket ?

A picnic area is located at 10 minutes walk from the Caves of La Balme entrance office (in direction of Crémieu).
You will find picnic tables, toilets, a shelter in case of rain and a playground for kids til 7 years old.

Le Marché Balmolan is located : Place Pition (5 minutes walk from the Caves entrance desk).
Closed on Thurdays.

"Le Pote Âgé" shop (local vegetables and fruits) is located : 9, rue du Ruisseau.
Saturdays : 2.30 p.m to 6.30 p.m.
